- Foreign language teaching in Vietnam is rapidly evolving in response to a new socio-economic context. Government policy plays an essential role in this regard. Foreign language proficiency, especially in English, is vital to the country's performance in the global economy. This chapter reports on teachers' and administrators' perceptions of foreign language teaching in Vietnam. It addresses the opportunities and challenges presented by a new imperative for more foreign language teaching.
